What is in a Name
What does that word
Convergence mean? How did we come up
with our name?
·
The
mere definition of the word Convergence:
noun: the occurrence of two or more things,
or points, coming together
noun: a representation of common ground between
theories or phenomena
·
Harmonic
Convergence was an event: The Harmonic
Convergence was a loosely organized New Age, Spiritual Event that occurred on
August 17, 1987, when groups of people gathered in various sacred sites and
mystical places around the world to usher in a new era, an alignment of the
planets, a date based on the Maya Calendar, but also on interpretations of
European and Asian astrology.
·
An area in
the Puget Sound region, specifically
relating to the weather, known as the Convergence Zone.
But seriously, we actually all live in the Convergence zone area, and although we were not naming ourselves after the area we reside in, we do see ourselves as performers. We are in and of ourselves a harmonic Convergence, the coming together of an unusual combination of chamber instruments, of which there is actual repertoire to explore. (Clarinet, Horn, Piano) We all enjoy chamber music and began our time together exploring a repertoire that is not often performed. Our ensemble came together in an unusual way as well. As an ensemble, while two of us teach in the same school, Cindy met Don accidentally while dining at a pizza parlor. The rest is history! After a one-time trial reading session together as a trio, a musical connection was made and our ensemble was formed! |
